Membership

The major benefit of being an IAP member is the opportunity to give back to the hobby we love so well. Our funds will be used to create a legacy of scientific innovation and progress in philately!

You will be helping IAP to coordinate research activities through collaborative relationships with other philatelic organizations so that the overall hobby gets the most "bang for its buck".

You may have an opportunity to work with some of the greatest philatelic minds and with state-of-the-art scientific equipment.

You will periodically receive a newsletter that not only presents IAP news, but also news about current philatelic research activities and interests around the U.S. and world.

You may attend our annual meeting in conjunction with the APS StampShow, which has been selected to maximize attendance and convenience for our members.

You will have a pipeline into IAP to suggest funding research efforts that are important to you.

The Reference Library, available on this Web Site, will be a constantly growing resource.

As a nonprofit corporation exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, nearly all of our funding comes from the charitable contributions of philatelists like you. Our administration does its work on a strictly voluntary basis and about 90% of the contributions we receive are used to fund research grants and to publish and disseminate the results of these grants.

All members of IAP have the same voting rights under our bylaws. However, we have chosen to recognize the generosity of those who have made major contributions by having four membership levels. These are:

Patron Member ---------- $5,000 initial pledge and $100 per year contribution.
Sponsor Member -------- $2,000 initial pledge and $100 per year contribution.
Supporting Member ---- $100 per year contribution.
Sustaining Member ----- $50 per year contribution.
Institutional Member --- $250 per year contribution.
