Applying for a Research Grant

The first step in getting an Institute for Analytical Philately, Inc. (IAP) Grant is to complete the Preliminary Application for an IAP Research Grant (PDF) and send it to IAP for evaluation. (also as a WordDoc)

Once your Preliminary Application for an IAP Research Grant has been accepted, you will be contacted by your assigned IAP Senior Fellow and asked to prepare a formal proposal. The format for a successful proposal has been developed over many years, and the Guidelines for Proposal Preparation (PDF) will help.

We have a Sample Proposal (PDF) which was a formal proposal based on these guidelines that was successful in winning a grant from the Smithsonian National Postal Museum.

The final step is to execute a Research Grant Agreement (PDF). (also as a Word Doc)

What the IAP will pay for? It is explained in
Costs We Reimburse and Costs We Don't Reimburse (PDF)
